About This Print

POP DOWN THE SHOPS

‘Pop Down the Shops’  is a 4 colour screen print by the unfathomably industrious Callum Preston, released to coincide with his latest exhibition ‘Milk Bar – Icon of Suburbia’.

For the exhibition Callum faithfully recreated his childhood milk bar from memory. Each element walls, fridges, fizzy drinks, and chippies cut from wood and painted by hand. It brings back waves of nostalgia from a time when you’d meet your friends down at the shop and spend your coins on mixed lollies and paddle-pops. Even the slight wobble of the wood cut edges makes it feeling like you are walking through a memory.

This print is a selection of products from the show carefully arranged to fill the frame with bright poppy memories. The hand painted textures have a real honesty about them and really retains that human element that Callum is known for. There are plenty of tiny details to admire with each item being a work of art in it’s own right. So if you’re heading down the shop, grab me one… and a Mars bar.
